ABOUT THE COURSEThe programme shall critically focus on legislative and legal writing techniques. It involves applied legal bibliography, case digesting and reporting analysis, legislative and legal reasoning and preparation of legal opinions or memoranda. The workshop shall hone the skills of beneficiaries on nature of legislative/legal writing; the principal rules of good legal writing; the most common examples of legal writing; how to answer legislative questions, and build an argument. Other areas of coverage are the nature and principal characteristics of legislative drafting; the steps by which legislative proposals are formulated and translated into legal provisions, and the procedure by which those provisions are validated as legislation as well as the duties and responsibilities of Legislative Counsel.COURSE OBJECTIVESUpon completion of this course, participants should be able to:
