Description

ABOUT THE COURSE

Training has always been used for equipping persons with the expertise necessary for performance of tasks. Training is now an accepted tool for development of human resource in an organisation. The training programme will focus on the latest developments and updates that affect government lawyers. It will assist beneficiaries to build their professional networks, and share challenges and best practice tips.Legal and judicial reforms, over the past years also included the enactment and amendment of many laws.  Harmonizing these laws for internal consistency, coherence or adapting these laws to cater for the changing times and contemporary need of the society continues to be the challenges of the day. Lawyers need to be apprised on consistent basis in this regard.

The lawyers have to deal with issues including people-the litigants, accused, witnesses, judges and even members of staff.  How to deal with them to optimise the level of performance and reaching a just decision with least harassment to the persons involved can only be done if the human skills are sharpened. Suffice it to say that lawyers need to be introduced to the principles of interpersonal behaviour; to behave in a manner as would inculcate faith in them so that they can elicit information needed from the witnesses and understand the social context of the acts. With a view to effectively carry out their functions as government lawyers, they have to be exposed to the qualities of leadership amongst other behavioural input. This is the raison d’etre for this course.
